JDA Architects completed alterations and additions to the Victec Training Centre for electrical trade apprentices, with a complete internal reorganisation of spaces, new external facade and entry upgrade.
The proposal addressed the poor circulation and entry experience of the existing building with a new stair, lift and reception accessed via a 2 storey high glass entry box projecting from a precast concrete ‘blade’ wall. The wall was imprinted with an oversized power point motif to reference the electrical training facility.
New perforated metal panels provided shade to the west facing windows of the existing building and relief to the bland concrete facade of the original 1980s renovation.
Large classrooms and workshops were provided internally fully equipped with the latest learning technology.
