New build, architect-designed home in Black Rock with beachy, relaxed feel

Our clients wanted a new home, built just for them. They had started the process with a volume builder, but found that they weren’t getting the customisation and design appeal they wanted. Their current plans felt awkward and not customised for them.

Their project manager at Build Fresh had worked with us before and recommended that they try the services of an architect to achieve their goals for the home. At first they were sceptical (understandable, as they had a negative experience with their last architect), but we met with them, and it was a great fit.

We got to know our clients and immediately got to work on a redesign, keeping only the elements they loved. They wanted high ceilings and lots of natural light, so we provided a raised skillion roof above the main living, dining, and kitchen space to add volume and create a feeling of spaciousness inside. Large sliding glass doors opened to a north-facing courtyard, also accessible from two of the three bedrooms. The front of the house presents a contemporary aspect to the street with timber cladding to the garage, exposed steel beams, and concrete look cladding. The spaces flow naturally inside, with a relaxed, beachside vibe.

Working closely with the clients’ project manager and their selected consultants, we were able to deliver the project on time and on budget with no stress or worry for them. This is extremely important to us.

The owners are very happy with the outcome, and are extremely glad they decided to engage an architect to design their new home!
